Introduction and about

Welcome to My Ecosphere. A project where me and my friend will try and make an ecosphere. Our long term goals are for it to be completely self supportive, however, we admit that is a tad ambitious. So, to start, we will just make a ecosphere, where we will keep it alive.

Inside our ecosphere we will have:
  1. 2 Colonies of ants
  2. A lake/river (depending on logistics)
  3. Banks either side
  4. Enough plants to support the animals
Eventually we intend to add:
  1. Snails
  2. Water plants
  3. Fish
We have decided upon a number of pieces of equipment we will need to get this world up and running. Given that we are trying to do something that the world took about a million years to do (given that we are skipping the volcanic period etc.) we are going to have to bend some rules as we want to have set it up by the end of easter! So we will need
  • 1m squared of MDF to act as our ground board
  • A perspex dome of the same dimensions
  • Soil
  • Sand
  • Plants
  • Ants
  • Pond lining (to stop water escaping)
  • Thermometer
In theory, once we have acquired all of this, we should be able to begin. I am sure we will be able to get MDF from around the house, so that one is ticked off. The perspex dome is going to be the hardest thing to source. However, after some internet research I have found a place where by you can get custom built perspex domes and they have confirmed they can blow it to 1m. I am waiting for a price estimate. If it proves too expensive then we will revert to plan B: A really big mixing bowl (£6). Soil will not be hard to get, however we may need a lot so this may require a trip to Homebase. Sand, probably get this from Homebase also. We are going to use weeds for our plants as they are both easy to get hold of, and grow quickly. Ants we will take out of our gardens. Pond lining is something that I think Robert Dyas can supply us with. Thermometers are cheap and easy to find.

Stay tuned for updates on my latest mad capped scheme. For the latest game news, review, previews and analysis, visit my other blog here. Kind, my friend will be a contributor soon (I hope..)
